The separation technology and testing technology of rare earth elements were detaily discussed .A variety of new analytical techniques in the application of rare earth element test were introduced.With all the chemical separation of rare earth elements for the enrichment of the method , the enrichment of ion exchange chromatography method in geological samples is especially widely used in the rare earth analysis.There is a lot of analysis detection method of rare earth elements, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ( ICP-MS) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry ( ICP-OES) are currently the most widely used means of analysis in the world.The development trend of rare earth elements in the next few years was discussed to provide important theory meaning and realistic application value .
