Cuhural studies and cultural critiasm have flourished in academic circles and among critics in China ever since the end of the 20th century, developing into a sort of animateel “disciphine” which, though transplanted from abroad, is rather adaptable to Chinese soil. Yet, if we look below the surface, we can find that it is not so effective as expected. As a theory that is Supposed to reflect upon ether theories, it has become the object of reflection itself. The trainsformation is, however, not without merit for the development of theories. The conversations in the following are reflections on it.
