In this paper, the author uses some theories and methods of institutional economics to anatomize the institutional innovations＇impetus of state - owned forest farms in Guangdong province. This paper analyses the causes of state - owned forest farms in Guangdong province needing institutional innovations based on the following two facets： inefficiency in the current system and the lack of institutional innovations consciousness. At last, this paper brings forward external and internal impetus in institutional innovations in Guangdong province, and the principles that institutional innovations should abide by.
