Liberal optional courses, liberal education, professionalization
北京大学自2000年9月起开设本科生素质教育通选课,这是实践通识教育理念的重要举措。本文参照哈佛大学核心课程,对通选课开设情况进行了详细的分析研究,认为由于受原有专业化教育思想和社会客观环境的影响,通选课并未完全贯彻通识教育理念,或者可以说只是专业教育的一种补充、纠编。

Liberal optional courses, as part of quality education for the undergraduate students, have been under since implement September, 2000 at Peking University. It is a concrete measure through which the university intends to realize the idea of liberal education. This paper presents an analytical research on this issue based on the liberal optional courses opened during the first semester of 2000-01 academic year and the second semester of 2004-05 academic year, concluding that there is still a big gap between the ideal liberal education and the practice of liberal optional courses at PKU, or in other words, these options only perform a supplementary role to the traditionally-existing professional education.
