转喻的认知理论认为,转喻不仅仅是一种语言现象，而是人们了解和认识客观世界的一种思维方式。转喻基于人们的基本经验，其实质是概念性的。本文首先简要分析认知和语用因素对转喻的制约作用，运用Verschueren（1999）的语言顺应理论考察转喻中转体选择的理据性。结果表明．不同的转体选择作为一种语用策略是对物理世界、社交世界、心理世界等语境因素以及具体的交际目的进行顺应的结果。
轉喻的認知理論認為,轉喻不僅僅是一種語言現象，而是人們瞭解和認識客觀世界的一種思維方式。轉喻基于人們的基本經驗，其實質是概唸性的。本文首先簡要分析認知和語用因素對轉喻的製約作用，運用Verschueren（1999）的語言順應理論攷察轉喻中轉體選擇的理據性。結果錶明．不同的轉體選擇作為一種語用策略是對物理世界、社交世界、心理世界等語境因素以及具體的交際目的進行順應的結果。

The cognitive approach to metonymy holds that metonymy is not restricted to language but is a cognitive phenomenon underlying much of our ordinary thinking. The pervasiveness of metonymy in everyday speech is a reflection of its conceptual status. Based on the assumption that metonymy is motivated by several cognitive and pragmatic factors, this paper, with an attempt to apply Verschueren＇s （1999）adaptation theory to metonymy, concentrates on the analysis of the factors underlying the choice of vehicles. It holds that the choice of different vehicles, as a pragmatic strategy, actually results from the interadaptation with language users＇ physical world, social world and mental world.
