委婉语是各种语言中的常见现象，也是英语当中的一种重要修辞手段。人们对委婉语的研究往往局限于其委婉语应用领域的实例。根据语义、时代变异和形音义间的同异关系分析，委婉语具有不同的语体特征和“相关”的构造原则，委婉语与禁忌语之间也有多重关系。

Euphemism is the common feature of all the languages and also an important rhetoric means in English. People always confine their research on euphemism to examples of its applied field. Euphemism has different style features and related formation principles based on the semantic and age variance as well as the analysis of similarity and difference relations among form, sound and meaning. Euphemism also has multiple relations with taboos.
