The paper is an introduction of Pinghua and Tuhua in the new edition of Language Atlas of China. It introduces the treatment of Pinghua and Tuhua in Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi provinces in the 1987 edition, reviews the studies on both dialects in the past 20 years, renews classification/distribution of both dialects in these areas, and outlines their population status and linguistic features.
