初期白话新诗运动的兴起与新诗的倡导者、尝试者们的求真精神密切相关。“求真”精神就是在创作中融人诗人自身真实的人生体验，在诗歌中注入时代精神。求真精神是初期白话新诗运动的重要动力和艺术追求之一。理解了这一点，能较客观地分析白话新诗所呈现出来的内容和形式上的独特性；把握白话新诗与中国古典诗词的联系以及正确地看待外国诗歌对中国新诗的影响。
初期白話新詩運動的興起與新詩的倡導者、嘗試者們的求真精神密切相關。“求真”精神就是在創作中融人詩人自身真實的人生體驗，在詩歌中註入時代精神。求真精神是初期白話新詩運動的重要動力和藝術追求之一。理解瞭這一點，能較客觀地分析白話新詩所呈現齣來的內容和形式上的獨特性；把握白話新詩與中國古典詩詞的聯繫以及正確地看待外國詩歌對中國新詩的影響。

The initial movement of Vernacular spirit. In their endeavors, the poets integrated Poetry is closely correlated with its advocates＇ pursuit-of-truth their lived experiences with the spirit of the time in their literary works. The pursuit-of-truth spirit as such constitutes one of the major driving forces and artistic aspirations of the days. A good understanding of this point is conducive to a better command of the Vernacular Poetry with respect to its distinctive features, its link with the classical Chinese poetry, as well as the influence from foreign poetry.
