Qi State capital-site Han period mirror molds mirror casting technologyexchang and spread
In recent years, a large number of Han period mirror molds have been unearthed from the site of the Qi State capital Linzi, which has drawn great attention in Chinese and foreign academic circles. In the north and center of the greater city of Linzi, three localities of remains can be affirmed to be ruined mirror-casting workshops as evidenced by the unearthed mirror molds. To research in depth into the types, features and date of the Linzi mirror molds and to investigate the casting techniques, production and circulation of Han period Linzi mirrors, the International Academic Symposium on the Qi State Capital Linzi and the Industry of Bronze Mirrors in the Han Period was held in Linzi District of Zibo City, Shandong Province on 9 to 11 February 2007. At the conference, scholars from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea carried out multi-level, multi-angle archaeological researches, made extensive dis- cussions on the social history, cultural exchange and other problems that are reflected in Han mirrors, and came to the conclusion that Linzi was an important base and a center of mirror production during the Han period.
