Purpose: To investigate the influence of different intensity training of table tennis on immune function of male college students. Methods: Male college students were randomly divided into low intensity training group and moderate intensity training group. Peripheral T-lymphocyte subsets and serum interleukin-6 level of pre-training, during four weeks of regular training and post-training were tested. Results: The percentage of CD4T cell subset, CD4/ CD8 ratio and IL-6 level in two groups were significantly increased after the first training as compared with that in control group, especially for moderate intensity training group (P〈0.05). During four weeks of regular training, the percentage of CD4^+T cell subset and CD4/CD8 ratio were gradually elevated in two groups and markedly higher than that in control group and level of pre-training (P〈0.01), while there was no significant difference among the three group for IL-6 level (P〉0.05). Conclusions: Low and moderate intensity training of table tennis could enhance the immune function of male college students.
