从城市化的历史轨迹看，大都市区化已经成为世界城市化进程的主流组织模式，对中国城市化道路的选择具有重大启迪作用。大都市区是城市化发展到一定阶段的必然产物，也是中国区域城市化道路的必然选择。基于国家协调区域发展的战略背景，我国四大区域应选择不同的城市化道路。
