Consider a supply chain consisting of a supplier and a retailer who faces a stochastic demand influenced by sales effort. Before the selling season, the retailer needs to decide his quantity as the same time as his effort level. We first analyze the reason that the buy-back contract cannot coordinate the supply chain, derive the expression of the retailer＇s optimal quantity and effort level under two fashions that effort influences demand, and analyze how the retailer＇s profit and the two decisions vary by the wholesale price and buy back price. Then, we propose two types of constrained buy-back contracts by constraining the quantity of buying back to coordinate the supply chain; finally compare the performance of the two types of contracts.
