自然主义文学与印象派绘画都繁荣于19世纪下半叶的法国，它们之间存在着彼此呼应，相互渗透的关系。两者都倾向于从日常生活、从自然界中取材；自然主义文学借鉴印象派绘画对光与色的重视、借鉴了印象派绘画的多重视角，在创作手法上出现了一系列的革新；在艺术理念及审美追求上，二者也有共同之处，呈现出一种艺术上的契和与共鸣。

Naturalist literature and impressionist painting both became prosperous in France during the later 19th century. There exists a sort of relationship of interplay and mutual filtration between them： First, they both get their subject matters from everyday life and nature; Second, they influence each other in the description of the scenes, which often appear with all kinds of lights and colors; Naturalism borrow ideas from Impressionism in artistic means, that they can draw a picture from different points of view, and the objective narrative trait of Naturalism come into being; Lastly, there are some similarities between them on the artistic theory： They attach importance to a sense of the true, in the meanwhile, they also stress on the unique temperament of artists.
