宋代是一个中国历史上少有的重视法制建设的朝代。为了适应司法检验的实际需要，宋代统治者运用编敕的立法形式，在继承前朝立法成果的基础上，对检验制度进行了许多补充和创新。宋代检验制度的特点有二：一是检验的规则完备、系统，实现了制度化、法律化；二是重视程序的价值和功能，设定了严密的程序约束检验官吏权力的行使。
송대시일개중국역사상소유적중시법제건설적조대。위료괄응사법검험적실제수요，송대통치자운용편칙적입법형식，재계승전조입법성과적기출상，대검험제도진행료허다보충화창신。송대검험제도적특점유이：일시검험적규칙완비、계통，실현료제도화、법률화；이시중시정서적개치화공능，설정료엄밀적정서약속검험관리권력적행사。
Song Dynasty devoted much attention to the building of law system. In order to meet the needs of judicial examine system in practice , the ruler of Song Dynasty utilized the form of legislation of collection of emperor＇ s orders . They had done a lot of supplements and creation for the judicial examine system,at the base of carrying on the achievement of legislation of the predecessors. There are two characteristics about the Song Dynasty judicial examine system. Firstly, judicial examine rules was complete and systematic, and they had achieved systemize and legalize. Secondly, they devoted much attention to value and function of procedure, and built the tight procedure, so as to control the power of the judicial examine officers.
