The present paper discusses how to deal with the semantic problems in the process of translating data in relation to science and technology. It holds the view that the meaning of words in the translated version is no more that of the original text, which is closely related to the context, and somewhat influenced by the intertextuality and the knowledge schema of the translator. Although the meaning of words in the translated version may be different from that in the original text,it does not mean a mistake but the rebirth of a new meaning in the translated version.
