This article investigates in an all -round way the explanation method of ＂Xu＂ term in explanatory notes of Shuowenjiezi, which have been presented the seventeen categories, there are interpretation of words from word formation,interpretation of words from pronunciation and interpretation of words in it. This is conducive to a better understanding of beginners on Duan Yucai＇s annotation of Shuowenjiezi.
