The core competitiveness is fundamental for the sustainable development of the library. This paper analyzes the concept of the core competitiveness of the library and the elements, and proposes that subject librarians are the key to construct the core competitiveness, that their service philosophy represents the direction of the core competitiveness, that their service ability implies the power of the competitiveness, and that information products are the functional point for subject librarians to construct the core competitiveness.
