采用认知语言学理论，深入考究了英、汉语料中以“光”概念作为源语域的隐喻概念的具体表达及其映射方式，剖析了英、汉两种语言中“光”概念的隐喻延伸和范畴化过程。发现英、汉两种文化中“光”所隐喻映射的概念范畴是相似的，而这种相似性是基于人类对光的生理和心理反应，对光的普遍经验与人类普遍的认知及形成概念的能力相结合的结果.

This paper discusses the metaphorical extensions and categorization of the ＂light＂ concept in English and Chinese languages from a cognitive perspective, focusing on corpus study on a considerable amount of ＂light＂ -as-sourcedomain metaphorical expressions and their mappings in both languages. The study shows that people in Chinese and English cultures share a similar system of cross-domain metaphorical mappings. It is suggested that the similarity is a result of general cognition and conceptualization of light based on the pervasive bodily experience as metaphors of light are motivated by physiological and psychological responses to light.
