学界一致认为庄子的社会观是倒退的,应受到批判。我们认为衡量社会是否进步主要有精神文明和物质文明两大标准。庄子反对以丧失美德为前提的物质文明生活,主张以知识换道德。这一主张虽然不完全正确,但也有许多值得肯定之处。它提醒人类:要汲取历史教训,在尽量不破坏人类美德的前提下去发展物质生产。

The academic circle all agree that Zhuangzi's social perspectives were retrogressive, and should be criticized. Generally, the spiritual and material civilizations are the two main standards to evaluate whether the society is progressive or not. Zhuangzi opposed the material civilization which based on the immorality, and advocated to exchange knowledge for morality. Although his advocates were not absolutely correct, many valuable points deserve attention. It reminds us that material production should be based on the premise of no devastation to spiritual virtue. d.
