本文从文学经典作品外译的中国形象构建功能这一视角出发，以赛珍珠《水浒传》译本在人物塑造、主题再现等方面与原著的对比分析为根据，揭示了赛译本在构建真实的中国形象方面所存在的缺陷，并据此对文学经典外译的总体原则和评价标准提出反思。
本文從文學經典作品外譯的中國形象構建功能這一視角齣髮，以賽珍珠《水滸傳》譯本在人物塑造、主題再現等方麵與原著的對比分析為根據，揭示瞭賽譯本在構建真實的中國形象方麵所存在的缺陷，併據此對文學經典外譯的總體原則和評價標準提齣反思。

This study is devoted to a comparative analysis in characrerization, theme representation and some other significant aspects between Shuihuzhuan and Pearl S. Buck＇s translation from a perspective of the function of the translation of Chinese classic masterpieces in creating the image of Chi- na, and then to an exposition of the defect of Buck＇s version, on the basis of which reflections are made on the guiding principle and evaluation criteria of the translation of classic Chinese literary masterpieces.
