中国现代散文孕育于晚清，诞生于五四时代，从初创到繁荣只经历了短短的二十年。这期间，名家辈出，精品纷呈，形式多样，风格各异。现代散文的兴盛主要得力于四种因素：新思想的传播与个性解放，传统散文的深厚根基，西方文学观念与文学形式的影响和现代报刊业的发达。

Chinese Modern Essays were prepared in Later Qing Dynasty,and given birth on Wu-si Period,and they crossed twenty years only from their creation to their flourishing. During this period, there bust a great deal of famous essay writers,great essay works,new essay styles and essay characteristics. The flourish of Chinese Modern Essays was mostly attributed the success to four elements as such： the propaganda to New Thoughts and the Liberty of Personality; the boundless Traditional Essay Roots; the influence of New Esthetics Concepts and Literal Styles from the west, and the development of Chinese Modern Press.
