诗是人的一种生存方式；诗是人类的文明之母，是最古老的文学样式，诗性精神之光照亮文学、艺术乃至生活的一切领域；学诗可以提高学生的语言表达能力、思维能力和审美能力；要了解中国，了解中国古代文学乃至中国古代文化，应该从学诗人手；中国是一个有着悠久诗教传统的国家，古人讲究“言修身当先学诗”。在当今商品经济大潮的冲击下，要培养当代青年健康的道德情操，更应该大力提倡读诗写诗。
