随着城市化进程的不断加快，回族传统的居住方式受到冲击，清真寺成了维系回族社区文化的物质载体，清真寺的公益性以及社会与个人中介地位的特点决定了其可以发挥自我管理、缓解社会矛盾、维护社会稳定、促进社会和谐的作用，使清真寺在回族社区建设中发挥着重要的社会功能。
