直城门是汉长安城西面城墙上的南数第二个城门，遗址位于今陕西省西安市未央区未央宫街道办事处周家河湾村东部以北约100米处（图一；图二）。1957年，中国科学院考古研究所汉长安城工作队曾对该遗址作了局部发掘，清理了3个门道中北面的1个门道，部分发掘资料已经发表。2008年，为配合西安市文物局的直城门遗址保护工程，中国社会科学院考古研究所汉长安城工作队又对该遗址作了第二次发掘。发掘工作从5月22日开始，至10月30日结束，

The Zhichengmen is the second southern city-gate in the western city-wall of Han period Chang＇an City. Its site was partly explored in 1957, when the northern one of its three passageways was excavated. In 2008, a second excavation was carried out on the site, covering a total area of over 1,300 sq m. The revealed vestiges are mainly the city-gate and the city-walls linked with it, the former including passages, partitions and auxiliary buildings. The unearthed objects belong chiefly to the Western Han period and consist principally of pottery building material, such as bricks, tiles and tile-ends; and iron implements and bronze coins also occur in a small number. The excavation contributes to the further understanding of the form and building date of this city-gate.
