西周时期建立的严格的宗法制度，在春秋开始遭到冲击和破坏，世卿世禄制受到来自社会外部力量的挑战。由于各种原因，贵族阶层乃至国君相继出奔至其他诸侯国，加速了异姓贵族在各诸侯国政权机构中的崛起和壮大。异姓贵族的壮大，瓦解了宗法制度的政治基础，为新型官僚政府的兴起和建立做了实践上的准备。社会上层阶级人士的大量出奔，带来了诸侯国间知识和技能的转移与融合，促进了外来人才集团的形成，成为战国时期客卿势力的滥觞。

During the Spring and Autumn period in Chinese history, the strict patriarchal politics started to be broken, and the hereditary officials and land system was challenged by new rising forces. Due to various reasons, the noble class, even kings, ran away to other sub-kingdoms, which expedited the emerging of new noble families from different clans in the old domination. The growing up of the new noble families disintegrated the foundation of patriarchal politics, and made preparation for the setting up of bureaucratic government. The running away of the upper social class promoted the transfer and integration of knowledge and techniques together with the formation of alien talented people group, who became the origin of the guest official in the Warring States period.
