传统文化到底在现代人生活中起着什么样的作用，一直是学者及一般民众所关心的问题。社会科学的实证研究思路及方法对中国传统文化中的社会心理学研究大有裨益。运用现代心理学的研究程序，将传统文化中的“中庸”概念付诸实证检验，结果发现，“中庸”思想在现代中国人的做人处事中占有重要地位。同时，“中庸社会心理学”作为范例，对如何将传统文化与社会科学相结合提供了有益的参考。

What effects can traditional culture can have on modern life is all along the questions of common interest for scholars and the public. The author suggested that it is helpful to study traditional culture from a social scientific perspective. The way of using the modern psychological research procedures to study ＂zhongyong＂ in empirical direction was proposed. After defined the meaning of ＂zhongyong＂ and the conceptualization of social psychology of ＂zhongyong＂, the author described the research path diagram of social psychology of ＂zhongyong＂ which consisted of lateral, length, and mixed research approaches. The author also hope it can be an inspiring example of attempt to combine the Chinese traditional culture with the social science.
