本文对契丹小字墓志铭中的韵文进行综合分析，整理出包括二十二个韵类的“契丹韵谱”，为契丹原字语音的研究提出新的证据，为艰难的契丹小字研究开拓出一个新的领域。

This study is a first attempt to carry out a systematic analysis of the epitaphic rhymes written in the Khitan Lesser Script. A Khitan rhyming line usually consists of four Khitan characters, with the rhyme at the end of even sentences. A Khitan character may contain one to seven basic graphs. Only the last graph is involved in rhyming, and thus it is called the rhyme graph. The phonological units involved in the rhyming are the nucleus vowel and the coda. This analysis examines all the available epitaphic materials. As the result of analysis a rhyming system of twenty-two rhyme categories is established. This study also demonstrates that the Khitan rhymes can provide new information about basic graphs with undetermined phonetic values. The obtained rhyme information can also verify the phonological values already reconstructed based on other materials. It is hoped that along with better decipherments the study of the Khitan rhyming material can introduce a new aspect to the research field of the mysterious Khitan script.
