The Ouyang Xiu＇s purpose of writing The Meaning of The Book of Songs is to give comment to Mao Heng and Zheng Xuan＇s annotations and to conclude the original meaning of The Book of Songs. To some extent, His book changed the traditional way of explaining The Book of Songs represented by Mao Heng and Zheng Xuan, and had important influence on the development of studies on The Book of Songs in the Song Dynasty .
