北朝时期无论是拓跋氏建立的北魏、宇文氏建立的西魏北周,还是高氏建立的东魏北齐,都能以儒家文化为重,广泛开展儒学和儒家伦理道德教育,其中对孝道的传承尤为重视,其结果是北方儒家文化渐居统治地位。这种状况带来北方少数民族整体文化素质和道德素质的提高,使北方自西晋后期以来衰落不堪的儒家伦理道德重新得到振兴。北方文化复兴所带来的文教盛况是北方文化事业和社会风气的重大进步,其结果是原来落后的北方超过了南方,南方反过来向北方学习。从而带来北方民族融和的形成和隋朝对大统一的完成。

Beichao whether Beiwei, Xiwei Beizhou or Dongwei Beiqi focused on Confucian culture. They developed Confucian and Confucianists' moral principles and ethics widely, especially laid stress on succession of filial piety. As a result, Confucian culture in the north was in the leading position gradually. Then the total cultural and moral quality of northern minority nationality was improved. Confucian moral principles and ethics in the north were re-promoted as well, which ever declined at the end of Xijin. Renaissance of Northern culture resulted in grand occasion of culture and education, which was the great progress of northem culture and social atmosphere. Thus the backward North overtook the south, conversely, the south leamed from the north. Consequently the northern minority nationality' s mixture was formed and Sui Dynasty reunification was accomplished.
