When my paper "Interpretations of YANG (阳) in the Yijing" was published in Journal of Chinese Philosophy,Prof. Chung-Ying Cheng,editor-in-chief of the journal, pointed out my pronunciation and interpretation were not correct, and insisted that my phonetic notation on the hexagram屯 (the 3rd hexagram in the received version of the Zhouyi) as zhun should be changed into tun,and he also noted that the meaning of tun should be tun ju (lit.,assemble). In accordance with the two explanations of pronunciation recorded in Jing dian shi wen ( Interpretations of the Classics by LU De-ming), in addition, with reference to the meanings of the six lines of hexagram Zhun and the commentaries by the scholars from the Hart to the Qing Dynasty, we can prove that the character 屯 (zhun) originally connotes difficulty at the beginning, and it is not correct to construe it as tun ju.
