语境是一综合、复杂、极为重要的语言学概念,是语言学习中一个重要的知识,也是翻译过程中不可忽略的一个重要方面。语境主要包括语音语境,语法语境和语义语境。语境的这几个重要方面限定了词或短语等语言成分的意义的理解和翻译时对词义和语体的选择。翻译中注意充分理解原文语境,保证译作符合原文语境要求,充分体现原文语言风味和语体风格,才能提高译作质量。

Being a synthetical, complicated and very important linguistic notion, context is not only one of the important knowledge points in language learning, but a very important aspect which cannot be neglected in translation. Context is mainly made up of phonetic context, grammar context and semantic context. Context restricts the understanding of the meaning of such language components as words or phrases and the choice of words and levels of formality in translation. One must make a thorough understanding of the context of the source material in translation. Only in this way can a translation work meet the demand of the context of its source material and be of good quality.
