综观语言学史,各式理论的演进,无不围绕着语言的本质和语言研究方法两方面内容而展开,处处充满了哲学思想的交锋。从古代的名实之争、语言世界观,到现代的任意性和理据性、共时和历时,以及当代的共性和个性、形式和功能、深度和广度等,概莫能外。对哲学问题的思考,是贯穿于形形色色的语言学理论的一条主线。

This paper presents an overview of the main theories in linguistics.It proposes that the advancements of linguistic theories mainly concentrate on two issues： the nature of language and the methodology of linguistic study.The thinking on philosophical issues is a main trend in the history of linguistic research.
