bing（ 病 ） ; original meaning ; ji（ 疾 ） ; hardship
“病”的本义，今或作重病义，或作一般疾病义。通过对《诗经》等八部早期上古文献中的“病”“疾病”用例考察，发现早期疾病义都用“疾”，“病”不用作疾病义，更无重病义；“疾病”连用，其“病”为形容词的危重义。进而通过对八部上古文献中“病”“疾病”所有词义及其训诂的梳理，可定“病”的本义是困苦义。
“病”的本義，今或作重病義，或作一般疾病義。通過對《詩經》等八部早期上古文獻中的“病”“疾病”用例攷察，髮現早期疾病義都用“疾”，“病”不用作疾病義，更無重病義；“疾病”連用，其“病”為形容詞的危重義。進而通過對八部上古文獻中“病”“疾病”所有詞義及其訓詁的梳理，可定“病”的本義是睏苦義。
“병”적본의，금혹작중병의，혹작일반질병의。통과대《시경》등팔부조기상고문헌중적“병”“질병”용례고찰，발현조기질병의도용“질”，“병”불용작질병의，경무중병의；“질병”련용，기“병”위형용사적위중의。진이통과대팔부상고문헌중“병”“질병”소유사의급기훈고적소리，가정“병”적본의시곤고의。
Nowadays, the ＂bing＂ （病） is explained as semanteme of serious disease or common illness. However, the intrinsic meaning of bing has not the meaning of illness or serious diseases, while ji（ 疾 ） , rather than bing, involves these meanings, which was rooted out from research and collection of usage cases in eight ancient books. And bing was an adjective equal with being serious when ji and bing were joined together. Thus, through the investigation of the cases, sorting their meaning and interpretation from the books, we reach the conclusion that the original meaning of bing is suffering hardship.
