The narrative structure of first being constructed and then being deconstructed offers the novel a sense of uncertainty, which makes it necessary for the readers to reexamine and correct now and then the judgments of events and characters they have made previously. Through the way of putting the readers in the experiences of self - renovation and self - correction, the novel, while fully displaying its defamiliarization of aesthetic implication, was able to strengthen the readers＇ cognition of the protagonist and her awakening of self - consciousness.
