多式联运作为一种高级的运输组织形式，可整合各种运输方式的优势，通过无缝衔接提高运输效率与质量，符合个性化需求对商品运输的要求，在全球化竞争环境中发挥着重要的作用。经过近四十年的建设与发展，我国多式联运取得了举世瞩目的成就，但与发达国家相比，仍然存在很大差距。当今，国际多式联运与生产领域的关系日益紧密，国际联运网络成为核心资源，班轮公司业务不断向陆地渗透。在这种形势下，为更好地促进我国多式联运的发展，必须积极培育大型国际多武联运经营人，构建国际联运网络；理顺管理体制，消除发展的制度性障碍；以海铁联运勾突破口，推进海陆联运网络发展；加快先进信息技术在国际多式联运业务中的应用。

In the light of this, to better promote the development of multimodal transport, we should cultivate more talented professionals and construct an international network for that, improve the management system and eliminate the institutional barrier for the development of that, promote the development of the combined transport of land and sea taking the combined transport of railway and sea as the breakthrough, and accelerate the application of IT.
