酒台遗址的祭坛及大量陶器残片、卜骨残段及祭祀坑内遗物，说明其时期在商代及商代以前。在凤凰山附近发现晚期智人牙齿化石、大汶口文化时期、龙山文化时期及岳石文化时期遗址。甲骨文中的“商”字，金文中的“蕃”字，形象地表明了商族的起源地望商和蕃，在凤凰山及其周围。诸多证据证明：商族起源地望在山东蒙山北侧、新泰市东都镇的凤凰山周围地域。
주태유지적제단급대량도기잔편、복골잔단급제사갱내유물，설명기시기재상대급상대이전。재봉황산부근발현만기지인아치화석、대문구문화시기、룡산문화시기급악석문화시기유지。갑골문중적“상”자，금문중적“번”자，형상지표명료상족적기원지망상화번，재봉황산급기주위。제다증거증명：상족기원지망재산동몽산북측、신태시동도진적봉황산주위지역。
The altar, the large number of pieces of pottery and oracle bones together with other relics in the sacrifice pits at the Jiutai site prove that they are made in the Shang Dynasty or earlier. In the neighboring areas of Fenghuang Mountain, fossils of Homo sapiens＇ teeth along with ancient sites from various times including the Dawenkou Culture period, the Longshan Culture period and the Yueshi Culture period have been discovered by archaeolo- gists. The characters ＂Shang＂ in the oracle bone inscriptions and ＂Fan＂ in the bronze inscriptions vividly describe the birth places of Shang Tribe Shang and Fan, which are located near the Fenghuang Mountain. Today＇s Dong- du county of Xintai, Shandong Province, served as the eastern capital of the kingdom founded by the ancestors of the Shang Tribe. Substantial evidences indicate that the birth place of the Shang Tribe should be situated in the north of the Meng Mountain, the area around the Fenghuang Mountain which belongs to today＇s Dongdu county of Xintai City.
