新中国成立以来，特别是改革开放以来，中国对国家形象塑造给予了越来越多的关注。国家形象的塑造，是一个具体而复杂的系统过程，同时也是一国外交的基本目标之一。当代中国的国家形象的塑造，包含了对国家形象的认识、构建、推广、维护与调整等层面。国内外关于国家形象认识的不断深化，新中国构建国家形象的实践，特别是新时期以来中国在国家形象的构建、推广与调整等方面所进行的不懈的外交努力等，都值得关注并进行学理阐释。

China has been attaching more and more importance to its national image building since the founding of New China, especially after the reform and opening up. However, the national image building, as one of the basic goals for a country＇s diplomacy to achieve, entails a concrete, complicated and systematic process. Take contemporary China＇s national image building as an example; it includes various dimensions such as its cognition, construction, promotion, maintenance and adjustment. The ever-deepening cognition both at home and abroad on national image, New China＇s practices in its national image building and its unremitting diplomatic efforts in the building, promoting and adjusting of its national image since the New Period in particular are all deserved to be focused on and make an in-depth explanation theoretically.
