加快甘肃民族地区经济的发展，是新形势下保持民族地区稳定的根本措施，也关系到甘肃省全面建设小康社会的宏伟目标能否顺利实现。加快民族地区发展，必须要重视长期困扰本地区经济发展的深层次矛盾和问题，分析面临的形势，抓住机遇，科学发展。要走出困境，必须改变以往的经济发展模式，转变思路，提出切实可行的新举措。通过培育支柱产业、推进小城镇建设等形成新的经济增长点，通过发展县域经济和扶持民营经济迅速改变落后面貌，实现跨越式发展。

To speed up economic development in the minority areas in Gansu is a fundamental step to maintain the regional stability in the new situation. It also concerns the realization of the great provincial goal to build a well-off society in an all-round way. Therefore, we should attach importance to the deep-rooted contradictions and problems that have for a long time affected economic development for a quick economic development in minority areas, analyze the current situation and take the opportunity for a scientific development. In order to get out of the predicament the old economic developing mode should be transformed with new ideas and practical measures. New prop industries should be developed and small-sized cities and towns constructed to create new economic growth points. County economy should be expanded and private enterprises supported so as to change totally the imbalance and backwardness and achieve a leap-forward development.
