传统的隐喻理论认为隐喻是一种修辞手段,认知语言学的概念隐喻理论认为隐喻不仅是一种修辞手段,更是人们借助已知事物认识未知事物的普遍性思维方式和认知手段。在分析概念隐喻理论的基础上,探讨概念隐喻理论对认知语言学的贡献、概念隐喻理论四要素之间的辩证关系和概念隐喻理论发展的局限及其前景预示之后发现,概念隐喻理论对语篇这一语言现象具有独特的解释力。

According to traditional metaphor theory,metaphor is a type of rhetorical device,while conceptual metaphor theory in cognitive linguistics holds that metaphor is not only a kind of rhetorical device but also a general thinking mode as well as a means of cognition by which people know the unknown via the known. This article is about a rethink on theories of conceptual metaphors and the main contribution of theories of conceptual metaphors to cognitive linguistics,the relationship among the components of conceptual metaphors,and the limitations and the promise of the theories of conceptual metaphors. It is found in the research that conceptual metaphor plays an important and unique role in discourse analysis.
