历代壮族先民运用方块壮字记录生活的诸多方面，经长期创作积累，形成了大量的手抄文本。这些手抄文本实质上就是保存于民间的壮族文献，是壮民族文化传承的重要载体。根据在龙州、象州、忻城三县田野调查得知，目前方块壮字文献仍在宗教经书、山歌唱本、民间故事传说等特定领域流行。现存的方块壮字文本在民间的流传呈现出衰落趋势，但还将以艰难姿态传承下去。
역대장족선민운용방괴장자기록생활적제다방면，경장기창작적루，형성료대량적수초문본。저사수초문본실질상취시보존우민간적장족문헌，시장민족문화전승적중요재체。근거재룡주、상주、흔성삼현전야조사득지，목전방괴장자문헌잉재종교경서、산가창본、민간고사전설등특정영역류행。현존적방괴장자문본재민간적류전정현출쇠락추세，단환장이간난자태전승하거。
Along the history river, the ancestors of the Zhuang enthnic group have been using the ancient Zhuang character to record many aspects of their life. With longtime accumulation, a large number of hand- written manuscripts have been formed and preserved. Those manuscripts of the ancient Zhuang character are mostly stored in the folk literatures of the Zhuang enthnic group, and therefore are important carriers of the Zhuang culture. According to the field survey of the three counties named Long Zhou, Xiang Zhou, and Xin Cheng, we can get the message that currently the ancient Zhuang character are still used and preserved in specific areas like the religious classics, the folk song scripts, and the leg- ends and folk tales. However, the survey also shows that the spread of the ancient Zhuang character is in a declining trend, and it will be more and more difficult to preserve and pass on the cultural haritage of the ancient Zhuang character.
