Premier Wen Jia-bao of the State Council wrote a letter to our university last year. The letter reflects the Premier＇s great concern about the development of the geosciences and our university. In his letter, he points out the trend of geologic cause and geosciences under the new situation and the direction for the overall development of the geosciences universities. The implementation of the spirit of the Premier＇s speech is of important guidance for our university to strive to perfect the disciplinary system oriented by earth system science, to cultivate high-quality and innovative talents, and to speed up the pace of constructing the world-class university of earth science.
