传统上，使用相对集中指数（RCI）描述港口经济规模与城市经济活动的相互关系，但将RCI的最优值定位为港口与城市两者维持相同幅度的增长，而与当前世界上诸多港口城市的现实发展状态相悖。文章改进了RCI，并应用改进后的RCI对我国典型港口城市在近十年的发展状态做了分析，发现这些城市呈现出较为一致的以港口经济为核心的发展战略，有可能加剧我国港口城市未来的竞争态势，因而建议港口城市规划者采取差异化的发展战略。

Traditionally, relative concentration index （RCI） is used to describe the interrelationship between port economy and city economy. However, the most optimized RCI is believed to be achieved only when port prosperity and city development keep the same pace, which is contrary to current development modes of many port cities in the world. RCI is improved and the improved RCI is used to analyze the development modes in recent 10 years of China＇ s typical port cities. It is resulted that, the typical port cities of China have almost taken the similar development strategy prioritizing port economy. Thus, the competition may be devastated. In light of this, differentiated development strategies are suggested for port city planners.
