五四时期，围绕文学作品是否可译这一问题，郑振铎和茅盾、沈泽民展开了一场论争，反映出译者对文学翻译理论建设的热情和积极参与。1980年代后，关于可译性问题的探讨增多，视角发生了转变，跨学科意识也得到加强，但仍未能脱离五四时期这场论争的模式。可译性论争的根源在于，双方对翻译本质的不同认识、不同翻译标准的设定、不同的理论依据和不同的描述方法。

During the May Fourth Movement, a debate on translatability and untranslatability of the literary works developed between zheng Zhen - duo, Shen Ze - min ＆Shen Yanbing. After the 1980s, the debate on this topic has been intensified for the change of perspectives and cross - discipline consciousness. But the mode of the May Fourth debate between Zheng and Shen has been lasting. In fact the root cause of the debate lies in different understandings on the nature of translation, different standards to evaluate translation, different theoretic bases and different ways of description.
