In view of manipulating the spice trade in the East and protecting the royal monopoly on this business from encroachment of both private businessman and the eastern countries,the Portuguese monarch created the Estado da India in the East as local organization of military defence and commercial exchange.How the viceregal court,its headquarter in India sub-continent was organized,becomes the primary concern of this article.
