在远程教育领域,辅导教师的重要作用显而易见,然而,面向学科的教师专业发展的研究却严重滞后。因此,本研究聚焦电大英语学科辅导教师的专业发展,通过半结构化访谈,了解该学科辅导教师的职业自我概念、专业发展情况和诉求。研究发现,虽然基层电大英语学科辅导教师的教学任务重,但是,多数人对自己的教学效果比较满意;他们对于远程教育理论和教育技术对远程教学的促进作用也给予充分肯定。另一方面,他们的英语水平、教学法知识、教学研究水平和远程教育理论基础等仍有待进一步提高,在教育技术的创新使用方面也有待改进。很多教师能克服种种客观条件的限制,努力提高自身专业水平,但是基层电大对于教师的专业发展的重视不足。根据调查结果,本文提出了促进辅导教师专业发展的措施。

Tutors play a key role in distance education offered by TV universities.Nevertheless,research on discipline-specific professional development for tutors has not received sufficient attention.In light of this,semi-structured interviews were administered to explore English tutors' professional self-concept,professional development needs and measures to cater for these needs.Survey findings show that most tutors evaluated their teaching performance positively despite their heavy workload.They also raved about the importance of distance education theory and educational technology in their teaching.However,they felt the need to improve their English proficiency,pedagogical knowledge,research skills,and knowledge of distance education theory.Furthermore,they need to learn to benefit from more innovative use of educational technology.Findings also indicate that many tutors developed professionally through personal efforts,because only a small number of institutions had effective measures to support tutors' professional development.Based on the survey results,we recommend several strategies to local radio and television universities.For instance,flexible and institutionalized in-service training programs;reducing tutor's workload by eliminating the requirements for 9-5 office hours,and to foster a research culture.Finally,TV universities should support tutor's forming of communities of practices.
