作为人类永恒的主题，爱情是一种抽象概念。英汉爱情谚语尽管语言表达方式不尽相同，但在认知上存在相当程度的相似之处。隐喻不仅仅是一种语言现象，更是一种认知体系，一种思维方式。通过介绍概念隐喻的特征，利用概念隐喻理论分析了中英爱情谚语中的隐喻特性及认知思维异同。

Love is an eternal topic for people and there are a number of love proverbs in both Chinese and English. Love is abstract but it is a real feeling of man. Although Chinese and English love proverbs differentiate in expression, they show quite a lot of similarities in cognition. Metaphor is not only a language phenomenon but also a cognitive system and a way of thinking. Conceptual metaphor is to build a cognitive relationship between two cognition domains （concept） or to shift between two conceptual domains through the thinking of the cognitive subject. This paper first introduces the features of conceptual metaphor, then analyzes the metaphoric features of Chinese and English love proverbs, and lastly analyzes the similarities and differences of cognitive thinking between Chinese and English love proverbs from the metaphoric perspective.
