语言符号的任意性与理据性是近些年来学术界争论的热点问题之一。当代认知理论认为转喻是概念上的相关现象，体现的是一种邻近关系，人类的认知思维具有转喻性特点。客观世界的符号化离不开转喻机制，转喻的替代关系普遍存在于现实世界中。语言符号音义的结合、人类对客观世界认知和命名过程中转体与喻体的选择等都是认知规律作用下基于客观的主观认识结果，反映了语言符号与现实世界之间的某种关系，体现了语言符号任意性与理据性的对立统一。

The issue of lansign＇s arbitrariness and motivation is nowadays one of the focal points in academic discussion. In modern cognitive linguistics the metonymy is regarded as the correlation between concepts and represents contiguous relations, and human thought is characterized by metonymic phenomena. Symbolization of the objective world can not be realized without metonymic mechanism, and metonymic substitution exists widely in the world. From the perspective of metonymy, the combination of a concept with a sound pattern and the choices of metonymy＇s vehicles and preferred vehicles both reflect the relations between lansigns and reality and show a unity of opposites in lansign＇s arbitrariness and motivation, thus forming subjective results in conformitv to the common congnitive rules.
