明清以降,湖南移民大量外迁,广泛分布在四川、贵州、云南等地,广西也是明清以来湖南移民的重要移居地之一.湖南移民在广西的分布呈现由北到南依次递减的地理特征,省会桂林和靠近湖南的全州、资源、灌阳、兴安等县接受湖南移民最多,桂西北和桂中地区构成了湖南移民的第二分布圈,在桂东南、桂南和桂西地区,湖南移民的分布相对较少.

Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Hunan people migrated out in droves,distributing widely in places such as Sichuan,Guizhou and Yunnan,among which Guangxi is also an important destination.Geographically,the distribution of Hunan migrants in Guangxi decreased progressively from north to south： Guilin,provincial capital,and the counties close to Hunan,i.e.,Quanzhou,Ziyuan,Guanyang and Xing＇an,etc.received the most Hunan migrants;the northwest and the central area in Guangxi constituted the second distribution zone of Hunan migrants;in the southeast,the south and the west area of Guangxi,Hunan migrants were relatively fewer.
