清末民初,在优越的地理条件、经济基础以及对于新式教育人才迫切需求等多种因素的推动下,湖北地区的新式教育得到快速发展,并在国内占有举足轻重的地位。辛亥革命后,师范教育越发受到重视,为了解决日益突出的教育转型与新式教育资源匮乏之间的矛盾,民国政府在改革学制的同时,在国内重点兴建了六所高等师范学校,以培养新式教育人才。武昌高等师范学校凭借湖北地区良好的教育基础,锐意改革,成为当时国内高等师范教育的典范,同时也培养了一大批知名的新式教育人才。武昌高等师范学校同其它学校一起,为近代中国的教育转型以及教育的现代化进程做出了不可磨灭的贡献。

On the turning point of Qing Dynasty and Republic of China,the new-typed education in Hubei was quickly developing to occupy the predominant stand due to the advantageous geographic conditions,economic basis and the sharp thirst for new-typed educational talents.After the outbreak of Xinhai Revolution,greater importance was attached to the normal education.For the purpose of solving the increasingly obtrusive contradictions between the educational transformation and the shortage of new-typed educational resources,the regime established especially six higher normal colleges to cultivate new-typed educational talents in synchrony with the reform of schooling system.Reliant upon the good educational basis in Hubei,the Normal Wuchang Higher Normal College was keen on reform so as to become a model for the present inland higher normal education.Together with other ones,the national Wuchang Higher Normal College did the indelible contribution to the early-modern China's educational transformation and the educational modernization.
