儒学发展史上呈心性儒学和政治儒学两条脉胳，政治儒学在现代长期不被重视。董仲舒建立起了兼容百家的董子政治儒学，为汉初解决了政治合法性问题，维护了封建政权统一和稳固；对缓解社会矛盾，维护社会稳定起到了积极作用；为大一统的中国古代政治文明建设提供了成功范式。董子在政治儒学理论上的创化和实践上的贡献，对创新发展当代中国政治意识形态、改善加强党的执政能力、建设新的政治文明、促进国家长治久安具有积极的现实和长远意义。
유학발전사상정심성유학화정치유학량조맥각，정치유학재현대장기불피중시。동중서건립기료겸용백가적동자정치유학，위한초해결료정치합법성문제，유호료봉건정권통일화은고；대완해사회모순，유호사회은정기도료적겁작용；위대일통적중국고대정치문명건설제공료성공범식。동자재정치유학이론상적창화화실천상적공헌，대창신발전당대중국정치의식형태、개선가강당적집정능력、건설신적정치문명、촉진국가장치구안구유적겁적현실화장원의의。
There are two branches in the development of Confucianism： psychological Confucianism and political Confucianism, which has long been neglected in the modem. The political Confucianism, compatible with thoughts of other schools, established by Dong Zhong-shu, has played a positive role in solving the political legitimacy in the early Hart Dynasty, maintaining unity and stability of the feudal regime, alleviating social conflicts, maintaining social stability, and offering the successful patterns for construction of the unified ancient China. His theoretical innovation and practical contribution has its positive, practical and long-term significance in the developing of contemporary Chinese political ideology, strengthening the party＇s ability, improving and building new political culture, improving the stability of the state.
